The working environment you can expectThe position is located at the Ketchikan Public Health Center, 605 Gateway Court. Ketchikan sits in the panhandle of Southeast Alaska, 90 minutes by air from Seattle.
Who we are looking for- Public Health – knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and tools associated with protecting and improving community health.
- Decision Making – sound, well‑informed, and objective decisions, even in uncertain situations.
- Partnering – network development and strategic relationship building across boundaries.
- Interpersonal Skills – courteous, empathetic, culturally sensitive communication with diverse populations.
- Analysis and Assessment – use of information technology to collect, analyze, and disseminate data.
- Valid Alaska Registered Nursing License required at time of employment, per Alaska Nurse Practice Act.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- CPR Certification required.
- Eligibility to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university.
Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Proof of RN licensure will be required prior to appointment and reporting for duty.
Candidates not actively enrolled, but who can provide proof of acceptance into an accredited RN‑to‑BSN bridge program, may apply for vacancies in the Public Health Nurse I job class. Continued employment of the successful candidate is contingent upon active enrollment and attendance in the program commencing within six months of initial hire.
