OverviewAs a Public Health Nurse 2 in the Ketchikan Public Health Center, you’ll work independently to support the health and well-being of your community. This position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity.
What you will be doing- Conduct health assessments and develop improvement strategies
- Provide screenings, preventive care, and health education to Alaskan families
- Manage infectious disease prevention and case management, and related activities

The working environment you can expectThis position is located at the Ketchikan Public Health Center, 605 Gateway Court. Ketchikan is in the panhandle of Southeast Alaska, about 90 minutes by air from Seattle.

- Valid Alaska Registered Nursing License is required at time of employment.
- Valid Driver’s License at time of employment is required.
- CPR Certification is required.
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska; and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Special NotesCandidates not currently licensed in Alaska may apply if they meet licensure requirements and related knowledge; conditional offers may be made pending licensure. Other enrollment-based paths may apply for bridge programs; continued employment depends on active enrollment.
Knowledge of professional nursing, public and community health, and health care systems is typically obtained through a BSN or MSN. Advancement depends on maintaining active enrollment and completing required programs within specified time frames.
