Licensed Vocational Nurse

The Primary Care Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) is assigned to Kerrville VA Medical Center in Kerrville, TX. Performs assigned duties in acute care setting that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran. The Primary Care LPN/LVN demonstrates skills concentrated in carrying out acute care practical nursing care assignments and observe, identify, and respond to patients needs.

Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

* Recording vital signs, assisting provider with physicals, diabetic foot exams, intake histories, clinical reminder completion, assisting with female wellness exams, and performing other duties as requested to meet patient needs and institutional performance measures.

* PACT LVN will follow guidance in accordance with PACT Handbook, approved Primary Care Nursing Protocols, and approved Standards Operating Procedures (SOP) for Standing Orders in Primary Care.

* LVN may be exposed to infectious patients and/or contaminated materials requiring prolonged wearing of various levels of personal protective equipment. May be required to work in various work environments based on patient care, organizational needs, and/or safety requirements.

* May be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or behavioral health conditions. May be exposed to loud noises, alarms, chaotic situations or other distractions and stressors in which the incumbent must maintain professional bearing and composure.

* May be required to work in modified work environments, care for patients on isolation precautions, screen potentially infectious patients, and participate in labor pools.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30pm. Other Tours may be added as needed. Must be flexible with scheduling and duty assignments.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
