HSCS is comprised of nine psychiatric hospitals, one youth residential treatment facility, and thirteen state supported living centers. This mechanic position requires the individual to perform skilled mechanical work in one or more areas of vehicle repairs. Work involves exchanging/rebuilding engines, carburetors, transmissions, air and air hydraulic brakes and similar assemblies. Individual will be required to do fundamental diagnostic electrical and cooling system repairs. Installation or repair of accessories to equipment and vehicles. Performs preventive maintenance schedules and complex service work on automotive and related gasoline and diesel engine powered equipment in a timely manner.

Work also involves stationary and/or motorized equipment and motor vehicles. Individual must be able to perform routine jobs independently or assist in more complex jobs under close supervision. Performs good record keeping procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
