Job Description
We are looking for a summer Engineer Intern with a focus in Controls, Mechanical, Automation, or Electrical Engineering to form part of our Texwipe business unit team. In this internship you will gain valuable experience and exposure to a wide range of operational areas and topics. You will be expected to present your projects to the team at the end of the summer.
This internship is a part of the division’s succession planning and applicants should have a strong desire to work for ITW and Texwipe post-graduation. This position is in our Kernersville Plant, NC, and will last approximately 12 weeks.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying and troubleshooting issues within equipment, systems, or engineering processes.
- Support the implementation of corrective actions to improve system reliability and minimize downtime.
- Analyze existing processes or systems to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Contribute to developing and implementing strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, or improve overall performance.
- Participate in the design, testing, and execution of engineering projects that support operational or business needs.
- Assist in validating system performance through testing, data review, and documentation of results.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (such as operations, maintenance, and quality) to support seamless integration of engineering solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, findings, and updates. Prepare summaries, reports, or presentations as needed.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and engineering practices; proactively seek opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.
- Must be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, industrial technology or another related field. Ideally targeting graduation 2027.
- GPA of 3.5 or above
- Possess strong leadership, data analytics, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.
- Must be a critical thinker and problem solver.
- Self‑directed, results‑oriented and customer focused.
- Strong Computer Science skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel etc.).
- Prefer ERP experience – but not essential.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
