Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving families and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Foster Care Licensing Team Lead to join our foster care team in Kentwood, serving families across Kent, Kalamazoo and Muskegon counties. This role strengthens communities by ensuring foster families are well‑prepared, supported and successfully licensed to care for children in need.
Responsibilities- Complete thorough and accurate assessments of applicants and/or licensed foster families per established time frames.
- Complete special evaluations of licensed foster homes and develop thorough, accurate recommendations and corrective action plans, as applicable.
- Create and implement effective plans to recruit and/or retain foster families, including recruitment presentations, recruitment materials, newsletters, special events, awards, gifts of appreciation, and support groups.
- Schedule, prepare for, and provide pre‑service training for prospective foster parents frequently and at times convenient for families, as well as consistent, ongoing training for licensed foster parents.
- Provide orientation for prospective foster families, ensuring great customer service to facilitate the application process, scheduling times convenient for families.
- Obtain referrals and thorough intake information, and assist in making placements in compliance with rules and policy.
- Participate in or facilitate inter‑agency or intra‑agency meetings.
- Complete data entry into all data management systems as required, as well as keep paper files accurate, complete, and in compliance with policy, rules, and state law. Train new staff on data entry and file management.
- Provide regular training for new staff. Lead peer support group and provide consultation to the management team.
- Assist new workers by providing opportunities to shadow tasks and also shadow new workers for feedback.
- Provide assistance and consultation on complex and challenging cases as requested.
- Provide training to new workers on writing reports and review reports written as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field (required).
- One year experience working as a Foster Care licensing worker (required).
- Experience working with children and families (required).
- Valid Michigan driver’s license, vehicle registration and auto insurance (required).
- Reliable, compassionate and committed to high‑quality service.
- Employment Type:
Full‑Time, 40 hours per week. - Salary: $43,500 - $50,000 per year, based on experience.
- On-Call:
Participation in team on‑call rotation. - Work Environment:
Office‑based with flexible scheduling. - Travel:
