Overview
The Home Medical Equipment Technician is responsible for operating company vehicles, transporting and delivering materials to and from various designated locations, educating patients on safe and proper use of equipment, cleaning and repairing equipment
ResponsibilitiesOperates vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, to transport equipment in all types of weather.
Loads and unloads vehicles using hand truck, dolly, etc.
Completes driver daily logs, sections of vehicle log sheet and/or trip ticket form.
Prepares shipping documents as necessary or required.
Inspects vehicle, reports condition, and arranges for repair and maintenance, safety inspections, and vehicle license as required and approved and complete monthly reports as required.
Cleans interior and exterior of vehicle including waxing.
Checks and adds oil, gas, water, air and other such items.
May maintain equipment inventory records and assist in completing daily DME activity reports. May assist with quarterly Inventory Reports.
May perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, spark plugs, etc.
May be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the store.
Delivers and sets up medical equipment in the client's place of residence and instructs the proper, safe and efficient operation. Advises patient and/or caregiver regarding maintenance and care of medical equipment.
Picks up, cleans and makes minor repairs to medical equipment.
Makes monthly equipment/oxygen maintenance assessment visits.
Assists with store display and pricing of supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications POSITIONPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess physical ability to endure excessive lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work.
Must possess good communication skills and be able to adequately convey home safety training to patients and caregivers.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent; and
Must possess a valid drivers license; and
May be required to travel to any ARH facility occasionally, but not on a regular schedule.
Must possess the ability to solve arithmetic problems, read and follow directions, function effectively and efficiently on an independent basis, as well as under direct supervision and maintain strict confidentiality.
Two (2) weeks to one (1) month is required to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
