Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Accredited GED
  • Valid license to drive a school bus, Class “B” CDL, and state certified by a driver/trainer instructor. Training program available for qualified applicant.
  • Such additional health and age requirements as the Board may require.

Transportation Department

JOB GOAL:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extra-curricular programs.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a school bus over designated routes in accordance with specified time schedules and in accordance with regulations and laws related to pupil transportation of the State Board of Education and the Crittenden County Board of Education. This includes, but is not limited to 702 KAR 5:080 bus drivers responsibility.
  • Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  • Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • Maintain bus in a safe operating condition through prescribed daily vehicle inspections and driver maintenance including cleaning windows, mirrors and bus interior and report any mechanical defects and/or malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Keep to assigned schedule.
  • Receive proper certification as needed and keep abreast of any new changes in transportation policies and laws. Receive an annual physical examination.
  • Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Let students off only at designated stops, except during inclement weather. The driver will have to contact parents when direct home pickup is not possible due to weather/road conditions.
  • Attend safety and preventive emergency meetings when required.
  • Transport only authorized students.
  • Report all accidents and complete required reports.
  • Maintain records concerning vehicle maintenance, miles driven and number of children transported; prepare student conduct, incident and accident reports.
  • Report for duty for morning and afternoon routes.
