Position SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Assistant Director to oversee established Aquatic operations, including lifeguarding, pool operations, and maintenance. This role also includes serving as a weekend Manager on Call two weekends per month, ensuring strong leadership coverage across the branch. The Assistant Director is responsible for upholding a safe and positive aquatics environment for all participants, members, and staff, while also assisting in the management of programs, facilities, and the development of aquatics staff and volunteers.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Implement strategic direction/vision for operations of the aquatic department
- Assist with pool facility management including managing pool chemicals & troubleshooting, equipment checks, and maintaining pool logs.
- Oversee part-time aquatic staff of approximately 20-40 lifeguards
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and supervising all staff including lifeguards, First Aid/CPR instructors
- Ensures that all required monthly trainings and drills are completed and recorded
- Maintains records and prepares reports regarding programs and operations as needed; ensures compliance with all state and county regulations
- Assist in maintenance of pools and all equipment
- Ensures excellent customer/member service and meet Association standards
- Develops relationships in the community that have a positive impact on programming and fundraising
- Ensure safety across all aquatic and program endeavors; lead collaboratively to provide systems that achieve sanitary conditions, safe environments, program excellence, and member service excellence
- Continue to serve the community with growth of CPR & First Aid program offerings
- Assist in facilitation and planning monthly staff meetings for Guards
- Lifeguarding as needed, with an additional 10 hours of pool operation and maintenance, weekend manager on duty, safety audits, etc.
- Must be available 2 nights per week and 1-2 weekends per month
- Candidate will be required to obtain all necessary certifications and complete required trainings within 60-90 days of hire. (Training will be provided)

Know How/Requirements- Experience working with children and adults
- Experience supervising and training
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to communicate through multiple generations and formats
- Certified Pool Operator
- YMCA Lifeguard Certification
- YMCA Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- Experience in Aquatics and/or recreation
