Lifeguard – Camp Shantituck Day Camp (Shepherdsville, KY)
Camp Shantituck day camps are seeking responsible, attentive Lifeguards to provide safe summer fun for campers in Shepherdsville, KY. Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring all pool activities to prevent accidents, teaching water safety through clear communication of rules and policies, responding with aid when needed, and maintaining pool cleanliness and safety. Lifeguards will work alongside the Pool Manager from May 1st through July 15th.
Schedules vary based on program needs.
- Lifeguard all pool activities and ensure swimmer safety at all times
- Enforce pool rules, safety regulations, and emergency procedures
- Clearly communicate instructions to participants of all ages and skill levels
- Administer swim proficiency tests for all campers
- Instruct and enforce aquatic safety measures in accordance with GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints
- Serve as a positive role model through actions, appearance, language, and conduct
- Maintain personal physical fitness and emergency readiness
- Conduct daily safety and cleanliness checks of pool equipment
- Clean pool area daily, including deck leaf blowing, pool vacuuming, and gutter clearing
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR & AED certifications, or ability to obtain them through provided training
- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Excellent oral communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to identify hazards and respond appropriately to emergencies
- Physical strength and endurance for prolonged standing, supervision, and emergency lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
- Strong swimming ability and comfort in pool environments
- Ability to pass a background check
- Be 18 years or older by the start of camp
- Reliable transportation

- Outdoor work environment with daily exposure to weather, plants, and animals
- Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and varied vision requirements
