The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) is a multi-faceted agency that provides services and programs to enhance the self-sufficiency of families; improve safety and permanency for children and vulnerable adults; and, engage families and community partners in a collaborative decision-making process.

DCBS seeks a Family Service Office Supervisor who is driven to succeed in helping people and advance family self-sufficiency. With professionalism and integrity, our agency offers services to families to ensure safe, stable homes for the children of the Commonwealth. The Family Service Office supervisor is a skilled team leader, providing a vital link between the children, families and local community partners.

The employee is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, self-discipline and the ability to work overtime.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Provides supervision to employees engaged in the delivery of family based services including Protection and Permanency programs, procedures and service delivery.
  • Plans, interprets policies and procedures, and directs all aspects of family based services including intake services for the unit.
  • Reviews and Evaluates case work.
  • Conducts personnel management by interviewing employees.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs.
  • Develops plans for training of staff as needed through in service training, seminars unit meeting or other avenues.
  • Work closely with community partners such as law enforcement, school systems, counselors, and shelter

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: A master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology or a related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR

SKILLS:

Four years of professional social work experience.

A bachelor's degree supplemented by two years of professional social work experience will substitute for the primary education.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
