Community Living and Support Services (CLASS) is hiring Summer Camp Counselors!

CLASS hosts a residential summer camp and weekend retreats for individuals with spina bifida and related disabilities. They are divided into two groups, youth & teen ages 6-21 and adult 21 and up.

Fire Fly Summer Camp will run from June 30 to July 17, 2026, and will be held at Camp Guyasuta in Sharpsburg, PA. Weekend Retreats are held over 8 weekends throughout the year.

Are you a high energy person who likes to stay busy? Are you outgoing and friendly? Find it easy and enjoyable to be with children and adults? Do you enjoy spending your summer outdoors? Then you will fit right in at Fire Fly Camp!

No previous experience is necessary to apply. We will provide training for the skills necessary for the job. We encourage anyone who has had experience working with children and adults with disabilities and loves the outdoors to apply to work at our camp. Our campers participate in activities such as rock wall climbing, zip lining, swimming, boating, sports, arts, archery, a Kennywood trip, and much more.

Each year we hire a diverse staff who can serve as positive role models for our campers. We look for counselors who are outgoing, energetic, friendly and reliable.

As a camp counselor, you will be placed into one of these roles based on your prior experience, preference, and strengths.

  • Activity Facilitator in either arts and crafts, cooking, nature education or adaptable sports
  • Healthcare Coordinator
  • Cabin Leader
  • Co-Leader

Qualifications: in order to maintain the safety and well‑being of our campers:

  • 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Passion for helping people with disabilities.
  • Pass clearances, negative TB test and drug testing is required (CLASS will provide information in attaining and cover the cost).

Responsibilities include: Medication distribution, personal care assistance, documentation, assisting with daily activities and most importantly ensuring everyone has a great time.

Competitive pay, and room & board are included. The base salary can increase according to your age, education, responsibilities, skills, and experience.
