The Assistant Manager partners with the General Manager to assist in managing overall store operations, including accounting, marketing, customer service, human resources, and food service. They manage, assist, and direct the store team in duties as required by company policy and procedures.

• Proficient in customer service, management, and food service responsibilities; hands‑on in daily operations.
• Partner with the Five Star team to provide customers with service as outlined by company policies and procedures.
• Assist in timely and thorough training of the store team.
• Assist in educating the store team on policies and communications.
• Assist the General Manager in addressing store issues for effective long‑term problem resolution.
• Ensure merchandising and adequate inventory levels (evaluate displays, pricing, promotional signage, out‑of‑stock items).
• Practice and promote Five Star treatment (friendly atmosphere, customer needs met, suggestive selling).
• Ensure inventory control methods, equipment in good condition, adequate staffing, labor budget compliance, accounting, paperwork, safety, and robbery prevention guidelines are in place.
• Oversee food operations: evaluate appearance of food service areas, food quality, tracking, promotions, signage, and adherence to food service guidelines.
• Be responsible for store operations in the absence of the General Manager.
• Learn and understand P&L statements.

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of retail management experience and/or equivalent education.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Team player, customer focused, honest, hardworking, excellent attendance.
• Basic computer skills.

• Ability to work flexible shifts (a.m., p.m., overnight), weekends, and holidays.
• Daily standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, climbing, walking, lifting (up to 55 lbs), working in cold indoor environments (35°F or less), and food service preparation.
• Ability to work in varying seasonal weather conditions.
• Learn and understand P&L statements.
