🩺 Job SummaryThe Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians by providing quality animal care, maintaining a clean and safe clinic, and assisting during exams and procedures. This position requires a kind heart for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently.
🐾 Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures
- Safely restrain animals for exams and treatments
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms, surgical areas, and equipment 🧼
- Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed 🐕
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns
- Prepare animals and supplies for procedures
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining records 📋
- Stock and organize medical and cleaning supplies
- Educate pet owners on basic care instructions under supervision 🐾
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience with animals preferred (clinic, shelter, kennel, or farm)
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills 🤝
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift animals up to 50 pounds as needed
Veterinary clinics, hospitals, or animal care facilities
Exposure to animals, bodily fluids, and cleaning chemicals
Schedule: Weekdays 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
One weekday off each week
Work every other Saturday
- Knowledge of basic animal behavior and handling techniques
- Customer service experience
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
- WAGE:
Based on experience but starting at $15.00/hr - 50% healthcare coverage
- 401(k)
- Paid holidays after 90 days 🎉
