Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - 12-Hour PM Shift - Contract Opportunity - Calvert City, KY

A hospital in Calvert City, KY, is seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position on the 12-hour PM shifts, working every other week (EOH/EOW). This role is ideal for an RN skilled in acute patient care, capable of prioritizing and managing complex clinical needs in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement and evaluate treatments.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice scope and hospital policies.
• Coordinate patient care across hospital departments and serve as the patient's advocate.
• Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma, utilizing advanced clinical judgment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Participate actively in quality and patient safety initiatives.
• Utilize proficiency in reading cardiac rhythm strips; pass a dysrhythmia exam at orientation.

Qualifications and

Experience:

• Current nursing license in the state of practice or covered by compact licensure.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience; 6 months acute care hospital experience preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN, PCCN, or NIH Stroke Certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Ability to perform advanced nursing skills including hemodynamic monitoring and care of patients with chest tubes and temporary pacing.
• Familiarity with electronic health records, preferably EPIC.
• Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to respond to changing patient conditions.
• Locals (within 50 miles of the facility) are not considered for this position due to scheduling needs.

Schedule/

Hours:

• 12-hour shifts, primarily PM.
• Every other week schedule, no block scheduling is permitted.
