A registered nurse with specialized skills in telemetry is sought for a stepdown unit in Calvert City, KY. This 12-hour evening shift role offers the opportunity to provide acute patient care on a contract basis, focusing on patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. Candidates should be prepared for every other weekend scheduling; block scheduling is not accommodated. Local applicants within 50 miles are not eligible for this position.

Key Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• Current RN license issued by the state or covered under the nursing compact
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required; 6 months acute care hospital experience preferred
• Ability to read cardiac telemetry strips and manage dysrhythmia exams (required at orientation)
• Exposure to EPIC Electronic Health Record systems and critical care training preferred
• Knowledge of caring for adult and geriatric populations with multi-system organ failure or trauma
• Strong clinical judgment combined with excellent communication skills for patient advocacy and interdisciplinary coordination

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive and ongoing patient assessments using the nursing process
• Administer medications safely in compliance with state laws and facility policies
• Collaborate closely with care teams and families to coordinate patient care
• Serve as a patient safety advocate by actively participating in quality improvement initiatives
• Manage patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring, including chest tubes and transvenous pacing
• Provide compassionate care adapting to changing clinical situations with confidence and professionalism
