Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for serving Veterans? We are seeking skilled and compassionate Locum Nurse Practitioners specializing in General Medicine to provide essential Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across Kentucky. This vital role offers flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on those who have served our nation.
In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments and physical evaluations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, to support veterans’ benefits determinations. You will have the autonomy to operate from your own office within a 50-mile radius of Paducah, KY, working on a PRN basis—whether half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) shifts. The position involves performing non-treatment exams and administrative follow-up work such as reporting and addendums, with no prescribing or treatment responsibilities required.
Required Skills:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with specialization in family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery.
- Experience in general medicine, physical assessments, or veteran-specific evaluations.
- Strong interviewing skills and ability to perform physical assessments.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow established protocols.
Skills:
- Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veteran health assessments.
- Familiarity with VA or military medical requirements.
- Certification in DMA or related credentials (though not mandatory for onboarding).
Education and Experience:
- Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Kentucky.
- Previous experience in primary care or general medical practice.
- Prior work conducting assessments in a government or military healthcare setting.
- Own office space within 50 miles of Paducah, KY.
- Willingness to accept travel and perform exams at multiple sites.
- Ability to complete training and perform initial exams to qualify for bonuses.
- Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding licensure and certifications.
