Communities Thriving VISTA Leader - OH

IKONC (Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and North Carolina, pronounced "iconic") is a consortium of state civic engagement organizations based in higher education with the goals of educating students for active citizenship and partnering with communities for positive change. The four organizations are Community-Engaged Alliance (IN), Engage

KY, Community Campus Coalition (OH), and North Carolina Campus Engagement. The IKONC organizations have partnered together to create the Communities Thriving VISTA project, which seeks to place VISTA members with nonprofit organizations in order to address poverty-related issues and create positive community outcomes. Communities Thriving VISTA members will serve with a local agency and work with community groups to benefit low income individuals and families.

Communities Thriving is seeking VISTA Leaders to help lead and support 18 VISTA members throughout Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, and Indiana. This listing is specifically for the OH VISTA Leader position and will serve with Community Campus Coalition (housed by the Ohio State University, Newark Campus). This person should reside in OH within reasonable driving distance to Newark. The anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2026.

Must have previous experience in a national service program (i.e. Ameri Corps, Peace Corps, NCCC, etc.).

Communities Thriving VISTA Leaders support and strengthen VISTA members serving at higher education institutions and nonprofit organizations to address poverty through sustainable, capacity-building strategies. Leaders provide training, mentorship, and project guidance to help members build systems that expand access to education, workforce development, food security, and economic mobility. Leaders facilitate collaboration across sites, support data collection and reflection, and help translate community needs into measurable outcomes.

Through leadership development and strategic support, Leaders enhance member effectiveness, increase host site impact, and contribute to long-term pathways out of poverty. This listing is for Community Campus Coalition (CCC) in Newark, OH. The Leader will support VISTA members at Ohio sites while building CCC’s capacity to strengthen programming and community partnerships.
