ABOUT THE POSITION

Our Distribution Centers utilize state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team to provide Columbia Sportswear Company a competitive advantage in distribution. Teams are responsible for shipping millions of units of apparel, footwear, and equipment annually within the family of brands. Accurate order fulfillment and on-time shipments are the hallmarks of our facility.

As a Department Coach, contributes to the smooth and efficient distribution of product by coordinating workflow and employee assignments within production departments. Assists supervisors and managers in identifying how to best use resources on daily or moment-by-moment basis to achieve safety, quality, and efficiency goals. Keeps individual and team objectives in focus. This requires the ability to perform all department tasks efficiently, using preferred work methods.

This position offers competitive compensation of $21.50/hour to start and ongoing opportunities for Merit increases, up to $31.54/hour. Other rewards include:

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Train and certify new employees on operations and functions of department. Training areas may include, but are not limited to, department policies, company policies, operations, procedures, and safety.

  • Oversees assigned area and works with relevant tools and with pertinent personnel to proactively eliminate barriers to team success.

  • Clearly communicates target performance results and department goals, providing context for the overall impact of individual performance on team and company results. Encourages and influences success.

  • Works with the department supervisor and collaborates with a department trainer to help associates identify and improve upon techniques that will result in safe work, greater efficiency, accuracy, and quality.

  • Helps supervisor understand whether an employee consistently meets minimum requirements or needs coaching. Assists supervisor in identifying employee skill strengths and needs for guidance or training. Communicates and collaborates effectively with department trainer in conjunction with the department supervisor on these topics.

  • Covers and supports the department supervisor or trainer as instructed within the job scope. Adapts to seasonal busy and slow periods, at times performing all operations and functions of their department or assisting in other departments. Prepares to cover any or all routine DC associate job functions.

  • Helps cross train other associates to provide coordinator-level coverage for vacations and busy periods. Maintains positive open lines of communication with all management, staff, and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization. Demonstrates for others an ability to calmly handle busy production demands and respectfully interacts with coworkers to accomplish common tasks.

  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

YOU ARE

  • Capable of collaborating well with contacts both inside and outside the company.

  • Comfortable to deal with work and time pressures to accomplish job requirements in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Comfortable with technology, including Warehouse Management systems, excel, email, and general computer use.

  • Able to work the following schedule: 2:00 pm - 12:30 am Monday - Thursday

YOU HAVE

  • HS Diploma or GED

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to read, speak, or understand English

  • 5 years of experience in warehouse position and advanced knowledge of departmental functions.
