OverviewExciting things are happening at our Sister Schubert’s Horse Cave Campus as we continue our transformation toward world‑class operational excellence. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sanitation Manager to lead our third‑shift sanitation team.
This role follows a Sunday night – Friday morning schedule, 11:00 PM – 8:00 AM, and is a critical leadership position responsible for maintaining and continuously improving sanitation standards across the facility. The Sanitation Manager will develop, maintain, and execute the Master Sanitation Schedule and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), while directing all sanitation and housekeeping activities for food contact areas and manufacturing equipment.
The role ensures compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and industry best practices, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Sanitation Manager plays a key role in protecting product quality and food safety while supporting operational goals and driving consistent, audit‑ready performance across the site.
Responsibilities Leadership & Culture- Lead, mentor, and supervise the sanitation team, including direct oversight of Sanitation Supervisor(s).
- Foster a culture grounded in safety, quality, respect, and accountability in line with Marzetti’s Core Values.
- Promote strong cross‑functional collaboration with Production, Maintenance, QA, and HR teams.
- Oversee execution of the Master Sanitation Schedule and ensure compliance with FDA, FSMA, and company standards.
- Monitor and verify CIP (Clean‑in‑Place) systems and manual sanitation procedures.
- Ensure appropriate and safe use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, maintaining proper storage and inventory.
- Champion a strong Food Safety Culture; ensure all activities align with quality, food defense, and OSHA requirements.
- Monitor compliance with all Sanitation SOPs, Preventive Controls, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in or lead internal audits, inspections, and root cause investigations related to sanitation and food safety.
- Hire, train, and schedule sanitation staff in collaboration with HR.
- Develop and implement sanitation training programs to maintain QI (Qualified Individual) certifications.
- Drive operational improvements to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance sanitation performance metrics.
- 2–3 years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in the food industry.
- Proven leadership experience managing sanitation teams or related operations.
- Strong understanding of chemical usage, cleaning processes, and sanitation best practices.
- Working knowledge of GMPs, FDA regulations, and Food Safety programs (FSMA, HACCP, etc.).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Must be able to push/pull 75 pounds short distances.
- Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks.
- May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non‑toxic industrial waste and scrap.
- SLIP‑RESISTANT/Steel‑toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
