You will be responsible for performing quality control tests on materials (sand/rock) for specific product lines using ASTM and AASHTO standards.
What You'll Accomplish- Carrying out ongoing lab and field sampling. Testing to ensure that material produced and shipped meets State, project, and customer specifications.
- Conducting in‑depth problem‑solving, detailed data and trend analyses, and troubleshooting, reporting results associated with aggregate material performance.
- Assisting with the documentation of material control plans and material performance data, procedures, and project‑specific quality control.
- Performing some service, repair, and calibration of laboratory and field testing equipment.
- Carrying out regular updates to appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance test databases and spreadsheets and providing report summaries or analyses as needed.
- Being self‑motivated with a solid work ethic.
- Being highly dependable, able to work cooperatively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Learning plant flow and plant operations.
- Observing and enforcing all Amrize US Safety Standards, Advisories, and Policies.
- Being a responsible advocate for on‑the‑job safety and the environment.
- Providing “troubleshooting” guidance and advice for various customers, both internal and external.
- Working under minimal supervision; customarily working with limited supervision.
- Being able to travel to multi‑region locations and work overtime as required.
- Demonstrating a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas; promoting a culture of safety and exhibiting these behaviors.
Education: High School diploma/GED; two years of post‑secondary technical education or coursework in sciences that deals with laboratory functions is preferred. This is a great entry‑level position for a Geology, Chemistry, or Earth Sciences graduate.
Experience: At least two years of experience as a materials Q.C. Laboratory Technician, preferred.
- Ability to learn the basic operations of aggregate plants.
- Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and Google applications.
- Reliability and the physical ability to lift and carry 50 lbs over uneven ground for a distance of 300 ft.
- Shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekend and holiday work.
- Employees may have the work schedule adjusted on short notice.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and properly use Amrize‑approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Employees who must wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
