Summary:

This position will involve reading and understanding blueprints, sourcing materials, measuring, cutting, welding, inspecting, and maintaining equipment.

• Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
• Sourcing the materials for the project
• Measuring and cutting materials to specifications
• Welding materials using the correct techniques to join metals
• Checking finished work to ensure it falls within tolerances marked on blueprints
• Performing process inspection, certification, and documentation
• Maintaining welding equipment through maintenance activities
• Grinding and finishing using manual and power grinding tools, performing routine maintenance on grinding equipment

• Practical/technical knowledge required for the job
• Basic math ability and understanding of mechanical principles used in sheet metal fabrication
• Mechanical ability and manual dexterity
• Ability to use measuring instruments to produce parts within decimal tolerances
• Conversion to and from metric units
• Understanding of production work process and operations; demonstrates proper decision‑making skills

• Independence & reliability – works with little supervision and can be trusted regarding task completion
• Creativity & initiative – proposes ideas, finds better ways of doing things, seeks new assignments and assumes additional duties when necessary
• Adherence to policy – follows safety and conduct rules, adheres to company policies
• Teamwork – demonstrates ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with co‑workers, supervisors, subordinates, and outside contacts
• Dependability – punctual, observes prescribed breaks and maintains an acceptable attendance record

Preferred:
High School / GED

Required:

Completion of vocational or machine trade school welding course.

• Must be able to frequently stand up to 2‑3 hours continuously
• Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb stairs, bend, and stoop
• Must have the ability to reach and grasp parts repeatedly throughout the day
• Must lift 45 lbs minimum and up to 60 lbs by self and up to 120 lbs in a "buddy" lift

• Welding environment requiring specific PPE
• Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and extremes of heat or cold
• Employees work semi‑proximity with others
