Location: Canada
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.
We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.
Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Unit Leader for Roads & Highways, Western Canada (Alberta & British Columbia) within our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Canada. This pivotal leadership role will oversee and drive the strategic growth and operational excellence of our Roads & Highways teams across both Alberta and British Columbia, ensuring alignment with Arcadis' global Mobility strategy and financial objectives.
This role sits in our Mobility Global Business Area, (GBA). We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population.
We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities:
As the Business Unit Leader for Roads & Highways in Western Canada, you will be responsible for implementing the Arcadis Mobility strategy with ultimate accountability for profit and loss performance and service quality delivery within the unit. This role requires you to develop and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives that ensure service excellence and profitable growth, directly supporting the delivery of both business and line-of-business objectives.
You will lead a diverse team of senior specialists, motivating and developing talent by recruiting, setting clear objectives, and regularly reviewing performance to ensure staff have the necessary skills and drive to deliver program goals. Developing and communicating the country business plan for the unit is also key; you will ensure every team member understands the plan and their role in its achievement by fostering a positive culture and providing clarity and context.
In addition to managing the business plan, you will lead efforts to identify and target new clients, delivering service excellence that grows organic revenue and secures new work across Alberta and British Columbia. Building enduring relationships with clients is critical; you will engage with stakeholders to fully understand their business needs, ensuring satisfaction and improving client retention. As a leader, you will coach and mentor practice group managers, service managers, project managers, and technical managers to ensure all projects-from major highway expansions to complex linear infrastructure upgrades-are set up for success and governed appropriately, with the ultimate goal of enhanced client satisfaction.
Your leadership will extend to identifying and nurturing talent within the business unit, focusing on both technical and project delivery capabilities as well as sales acumen. You will promote career development by directing high-potential individuals to appropriate development programs and making key decisions on resource utilization to maintain the integrity of the business unit's structure. Ensuring optimal resource allocation and managing risks in service delivery are essential to maintaining service excellence and client satisfaction.
Staying attuned to the needs of our clients and the broader market is vital, as you will maintain an up-to-date understanding of trends and emerging opportunities in roads, highways, and linear infrastructure across Western Canada. You will also develop relationships throughout Arcadis to foster cooperation and maximize opportunities for cross-selling and trading up, driving the overall growth and success of the business unit.
