Position OverviewThe Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of organizational management. This includes program development, implementation, and oversight, fundraising and financial management, developing and maintaining partnerships, staff leadership, and board relations.
Responsibilities Strategic Leadership, Vision, and Board Relations- Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors
- Set programming priorities that align with the mission and community needs
- Build and maintain relationships within the community and with external stakeholders
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to advance organizational goals, including the preparation of materials and reports for board meetings
- Lead all fundraising efforts, including grant writing and grant reports, donor cultivation, and stewardship
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with the board and the director of finance
- Oversee financial reporting and compliance
- Supervise daily operations of all organizational programs and services to ensure high-quality program delivery in partnership with the director of programming
- Manage facility operations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and requirements
- Supervise and support program staff
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative organizational culture
The Executive Director leads Thompson Scholars Foundation and is responsible for the overall management and success of the organization. This role includes guiding programs, raising funds, managing finances, supporting staff, working closely with the Board of Directors, and building strong community relationships.
The Executive Director works with the Board to set the organization’s direction and make sure its work reflects the mission and the needs of youth and families in Clay County. This person helps develop new programs, oversees existing programs, and uses data and feedback to evaluate programs. The Executive Director also represents Thompson Scholars in the community and builds partnerships with schools, nonprofits, funders, and other local leaders.
Fundraising is a central part of this role. The Executive Director leads all fundraising efforts, including writing grants, working with donors, and building relationships with foundations, businesses, and individuals. The role also includes preparing grant reports and keeping donors informed of the Thompson Scholars’ impact and progress.
Additionally, the Executive Director is responsible for the organization’s finances, including developing the annual budget, monitoring spending, and ensuring funds are used responsibly. The Executive Director works with the Board’s finance committee and the Director of Finance to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with all financial requirements.
The Executive Director oversees daily operations and ensures quality program delivery. This includes managing facilities, maintaining policies and procedures, and ensuring the organization follows all applicable laws and regulations. The Executive Director supervises team members while fostering a supportive and inclusive organizational culture.
