The Safety Manager will maintain effective safety operations across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and programs related to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all federal, state, and local EHS laws, regulations, codes, and site safety rules are observed.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce safety policies and procedures tailored to our business operations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA & EPA).
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate safety training for new hires and ongoing employee education.
- Maintain safety records, including training logs, accident and incident reports, and inspection checklists.
- Serve as the primary contact for workers’ compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work programs.
- Promote a culture of safety through ongoing communication and employee engagement.
- Monitor and manage safety-related equipment such as harnesses, first aid stations, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and emergency preparedness plans.
- Oversee powered industrial equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts to ensure they are properly inspected, maintained, and operated only by trained and authorized personnel.
- Ability to travel off-premises when necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Occupational Safety
- At least 1-2 years of experience in the field.
- Administrative policies and procedures
- Familiarity with project and department budget process and tools
- Knowledge of project controls
- Conceptual planning ability
- Conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Leadership ability
- Multi-tasking ability
- Communication, meeting, and presentation skills
- Comfort with time reporting systems
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Ability to travel across the United States.
