Job Summary

The Health Information Management Analyst is responsible for assembling and reviewing all inpatient, short stay surgery, rehab, and observation records for accuracy and completeness of documentation.

Reports to: Director Health Information Management

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Requirements

Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED - Required

Required Skills

  • Associate's degree in Health Information Technology - Preferred
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Work Experience 6 months HIM/Medical Records experience - Preferred
Prior experience in an acute care setting desired.

Essential Functions
  • Analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
  • Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
  • Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
  • Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Must perform HIM Tech duties as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
