Successful applicants will be responsible for expert medical assessment and management of patients within the Specialty Department, General Practice with Anaesthetics.

This position is sessional and involves on call roster.

Selection Criteria

  • Possess or be eligible for full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP) and/ or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) and Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA) recognition.

Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring / audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

  • Sound clinical knowledge of the specialty of Anaesthetics demonstrated through successful currency of clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
  • Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014
