Job Role

This role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and customer needs solving capability to maximize short- and long-term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within Abb Vie's code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections and concerns, and consistently gain calls to action to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively aspire to serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales knowledge, and share market intelligence with in-field teams, brand team, and sales management to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Relevant industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree (minimum five years) with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches accordingly; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Proven track record of sales success and strong presentation skills; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Leads by example; demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching in changing environments; documented leadership experience at district/region levels.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; meets safe driving requirements.
  • Ability to travel to cover territory, including overnight training and sales meetings; comfortable driving personal or company vehicle.
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing;
    English proficiency for non-English-speaking locales.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry credentialing requirements (HCIR) to gain/maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
Additional Information
  • The compensation range is the range of possible base pay compensation for this role at posting time; final pay depends on location and other factors, and range may be modified in the future.

  • This role is eligible to participate in short-term and long-term incentive programs.
