JobPurpose And Summary
As a Staff Pharmacist, you play a critical role in cultivating excellence in our pharmacy. You act as a role model, demonstrate genuine care, and support the Pharmacy Manager in leading the team while ensuring safe and accurate prescription dispensing, immunizations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and serve as the pharmacy proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures and coaching team members.
- Assume day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team, and resolving insurance or medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, focusing on cold‑chain product protection.
- Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and selectively escalated issues.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including writing the pharmacy schedule when directed.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through mandatory training and pursuing additional knowledge.
- Support access to care through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception).
- Comply with all federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, protecting patient privacy and a safe workplace.
- Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not listed on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within designated time frames.
- Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, verify prescription accuracy.
- Customer service and team orientation: anticipate needs, respond with friendliness, read patient cues.
- Communication skills: verbal and written communication, active listening, clear questioning.
- Mathematical reasoning: compute dosage quantities, fill prescriptions accurately.
- Issue resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose appropriate solutions.
- Physical demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift items, reach overhead, use fingers, occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
- Additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1‑2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
- Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.

Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is $60.00 - $73.00
. The actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.
