University of the Cumberlands seeks a Program Director to serve as the administrator for a new, developing Speech Language Pathology program. The Director of Speech Language Pathology provides leadership, supervision, and administration, and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health Professions. The Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic planning, and effective management and oversight of the academic programs, faculty, staff, students, and resources.
The Director establishes and maintains an environment that allows faculty, students, and staff to flourish. This leader ensures that academic programs offer students innovative and effective learning methodologies, opportunities for developing writing and research skills, nurturing critical thinking skills, and promoting character and professional development. The Director also fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the program, the College, the University, and the external community.
The overarching goal for the Director is to provide an atmosphere where students are encouraged to set high academic expectations for themselves and reach their potential for intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. The University is a faith-based institution that welcomes students from all backgrounds. ** Goals**:
* Provide visionary and strategic direction for the Speech Language Pathology program in alignment with the College and the University missions, visions, and values.
* Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of a high-quality and innovative academic program that meets the needs of diverse learners and the changing healthcare environment.
* Meet all accreditation standards and requirements
* Ensure the program provides high-quality, rigorous learning experiences
* Maintain a positive work culture within the program, the College, and the University
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching
* Facilitate a positive connection between each student and the University of the Cumberlands
* Engage in and encourage scholarship
* Promote service to the university, profession, and community
** Job Responsibilities**:
* Provide leadership in the formulation, development, and fulfillment of Departmental goals
* Serve as a moral, ethical, and professional model, in class and in the community
* Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff, and support their professional development and scholarly activities.
* Ensure effective orientation, training, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty and/or staff that contribute to a positive faculty and student experience
* Coordinate program design, assessment, technology integration, and curriculum development that aligns with institutional and program accreditation
* Develop and manage the budget and resources of the Speech Language Pathology program in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.
* Represent and advocate for the Speech Language Pathology program in various forums and committees at the University, College, local, state, and national levels.
* Manage department course rotations, assignments, and schedules
* Supervise and coordinate student clinical rotations and sites
* Advise students on course progress
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the administration of the University, College, other divisions or departments within the institution, related facilities, and the community.
* Facilitate the development of long-range goals and objectives for the Speech Language Pathology program.
