Project Environmental Engineer/Scientist – 2 locations available:
Makawao, Maui, HI and Honolulu, Oahu, HI. Job location options:
Maui and Honolulu, HI. This is a full-time position.

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team. The role is to work in a technical support capacity with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. The position offers opportunities to contribute to a variety of projects for diverse clients.

As a Project Environmental Engineer/Scientist, you will support environmental stormwater compliance initiatives for municipal agency and aviation facility programs, and engage in technical fieldwork, regulatory compliance, client collaboration, and public outreach.

Responsibilities span project work from field assignments to office deliverables, including design review, regulatory reporting, community engagement, and outreach related to public stormwater programs.

The ideal candidate will coordinate multiple work streams across technical, compliance, and community-oriented tasks, and collaborate with clients, project teams, and public stakeholders. Candidates with experience in stormwater programs, spill control planning and reporting, or community education are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
  • Under the direction of senior staff, support and lead portions of technical project work from project scoping through final deliverables.
  • Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as prior work experience, to execute project work.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Provide training, guidance, and informal mentoring to more junior staff on their projects and within technical competencies.
  • Under the direction of senior staff, participate in communications with clients and internal teams within your discipline.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols, including the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time management skills. Proficient at writing technical reports to meet project requirements.
  • Ability to work independently on individual tasks and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Desire to learn and grow, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
  • Physical requirements:

    lift 50 lbs., work outside in varying weather, and tolerate moderate physical activity during field work.
  • Ability to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Professional certification or plan to obtain relevant certification.
  • Stormwater program compliance experience.
  • Experience in public or community outreach programs.
  • Experience with SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) program implementation and/or training.

The salary range for this position in Makawao, Maui, HI and Honolulu, Oahu, HI is $79,000 - $89,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and market conditions.
