Position OverviewThe Lead – Technical Services will head APAR’s technical services function for conductor and OPGW products in the North American region. This role focuses on providing end-to-end technical support, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving technical initiatives with utility clients, EPC contractors, and internal stakeholders.
As a senior leadership position, the role combines deep engineering expertise with strategic customer engagement and operational oversight.
- Serve as the technical authority for aluminium conductors, aluminium alloy conductors, HTLS, and OPGW products.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients, consultants, and EPC firms to ensure seamless technical collaboration.
- Provide expert consultation on conductor design, application engineering, line uprating, and system load reliability.
- Conduct sag‑tension, clearance, and resistance analysis using PLS‑CADD or equivalent software tools.
- Oversee metallurgical and mechanical performance parameters, including fatigue, creep, and corrosion characteristics.
- Lead root cause analyses (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions for technical issues or field incidents.
- Manage product introduction, installation support, and field audits for the US market.
- Coordinate with R&D and Sales teams to drive product enhancement and technical differentiation.
- Ensure complete and updated technical documentation, including installation manuals, maintenance protocols, and QA standards.
- Track and report key technical performance metrics and customer feedback for continuous improvement.
- B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering, or Material Science.
- 20+ years in the conductor, cable, or OPGW industry, with extensive exposure to technical services and customer‑facing roles.
- Proven record of managing technical service projects for major North American utility clients.
- Comprehensive understanding of ASTM, IEC, and IEEE standards, and familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of conductor and OPGW design, testing, and applications.
- Expertise in US grid codes, transmission standards, and large‑scale utility projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide practical solutions.
