By joining our District 11 – Project Development Branch as a Transportation Engineer I in Clay County; you’ll have the opportunity to manage and oversee activities of transportation engineering projects with minimal phases and limited scope of work.
Responsibilities- Interprets and drafts professional and technical papers and reports
- Make recommendations concerning the planning or design of transportation facilities and related work.
- Manage and oversee activities of engineering projects and programs with multiple phases and larger scope of work and approves engineering documents as a Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Designs or coordinates the planning and, or, design of transportation facilities in accordance with the Department’s policies, procedures, and standards and in accordance with federal rules and regulations.
- Reviews planning studies and makes recommendations for alternative solutions.
- Ability to communicate both orally and written
- Efficient in both record keeping and inspection reports
- Knowledge of proper expenditure of funds for various transportation programs

NONE - SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period.
Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
