By joining our District 10 – Engineering Support Branch as a Transportation Engineer I in Breathitt County; you’ll have the opportunity to work with the Materials Section to oversee the activities of employees of the engineering related program and other duties as assigned.

Holders of the Transportation Engineer I position will complete tasks such as:

• Uses Site Manager for materials data tracking
• Develops and maintains project or program documentation
• Reviews and inspects material sampling
• Estimates project costs

• Working both in the office and in the field

• Reading plans
• Communication skills
• Coordinating work of technical and sub professional personnel

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period.

Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained. For additional information refer to: /

Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which requires the following of safety procedures.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
