Senior Controls Engineer
Overview
A growing engineering group within a larger corporation is building a centre of excellence for robotics, motion, and advanced automation. They work across automotive, EV battery, aerospace, defence, warehouse automation and heavy industry. The role is ideal for an engineer who can take ownership of both robotics and controls delivery and shape the direction of the group.
LocationCommutable to Northeast Ohio towns; remote considered with semi‑regular office visits.
CompensationBase pay range: $90,000 – $135,000 per year. Salary 90k to 130k (actual pay based on skill and experience).
Responsibilities- Program industrial robots and lead development of full robotic cells
- Deliver PLC programming on platforms like Allen Bradley or Siemens
- Support SCADA and Ignition development
- Select robots, work with mechanical teams on end‑of‑arm tooling, and integrate conveyance and motion equipment
- Lead commissioning and testing on customer sites
- Work directly with customers and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to a group that is on track to split into multiple standalone teams over the coming years
- Strong robot programming skills, ideally Fanuc
- PLC programming experience in an industrial setting
- Background in manufacturing, machinery, tool and die, automotive, or similar environments
- Comfortable travelling 20–25%
- Experience with simulation tools, vision systems, AGVs or AMRs is a plus
- Ability to work well with customers and adapt to a fast‑paced integrator culture

Two positions are to be filled before January. This group is scaling and will evolve into several specialist divisions, providing clear paths for progression into senior technical roles, champion positions, project leadership, and future management (if that is your interest).
