Overview

Warren Paving, Inc.

- Salem, KY, United States. The Safety Assistant will support the ongoing development and maintenance of training, safety, and environmental programs. This position will work the night shift, Mon - Fri, 12 hrs. shift.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain OSHA compliance with the following topics in mind:
    • Perform routine job safety analyses, building safety inspections and reviews;
    • Emergency Action Plans;
    • Fire Prevention Program;
    • Hazard Communication Program;
    • Personal Protective Equipment Program;
    • Maintain training documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining safety guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Able to effectively communicate both safety and environmental training topics.
  • Assist in ensuring and monitor regulatory issues (e.g., DNR, EPA, DOT).
  • Provide initial new-hire safety training and follow-up interaction for new employees.
  • Assists the Company with accident management and prevention.
  • Maintain and file documentation needed for reporting to controlling agencies.
  • Able to interpret and decipher environmental permit requirements.
  • Travel to offsite locations to conduct training on a scheduled basis.
  • Report safety and environmental issues to the Safety Director.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years’ experience in professional safety/loss control.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to train all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to adapt work schedule to all shifts when needed.
  • Experienced at dealing with multiple activities with minimum direction.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple locations on a weekly basis.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. from the floor to the waist.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders in construction/plant environment.
  • 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses. Adequate hearing, with or without a hearing aid. Ability to distinguish colors.
