Position Objective

The Inside Sales Specialist for Valves & Automation serves as the primary technical and commercial contact for customer inquiries. This role is responsible for supporting sales targets by providing expert technical guidance, preparing accurate and timely quotes for valve and actuation packages, processing orders, and ensuring exceptional customer relationship management from initial contact through fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Quoting:
    • Serve as the technical product expert, advising customers on the appropriate selection of manual valves, control valves, actuators, and associated accessories (positioners, limit switches, etc.) based on specific process requirements (pressure, temperature, fluid, service).
    • Manage the entire quotation process, including gathering customer specifications, calculating product costs, verifying material compatibility, and generating professional sales proposals.
    • Proactively follow up on submitted quotes to convert them into orders, addressing any customer technical questions or commercial concerns.
  • Order Management and Coordination:
    • Accurately process purchase orders, ensuring all technical specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules are correctly entered into the ERP/CRM system.
    • Coordinate with the procurement and operations teams to verify stock availability, track lead times, and communicate status updates to the customer.
    • Liaise with outside sales representatives to support their territories and provide backup coverage for customer accounts.
  • Technical Support and Documentation:
    • Provide essential technical support to customers regarding product functionality, installation, troubleshooting, and warranty claims.
    • Interpret engineering documents, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) , datasheets, and flow diagrams, to accurately select and size valve assemblies.
    • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, quote history, and technical specifications within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Market Knowledge:
    • Stay current with product offerings, pricing structures, and technical specifications from key valve and automation manufacturers.
    • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling related services (e.g., repair, calibration, installation support).
  • Required Qualifications and Skills
    • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an Inside Sales, Technical Sales Support, or Application Engineering role, preferably within the industrial process equipment or fluid control industries.
    • Technical Knowledge:
      • In-depth, practical knowledge of various industrial valve types (ball, gate, globe, butterfly, plug, check, PSV) and their applications.
      • Solid understanding of valve automation principles, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuation, and control accessories (positioners, solenoids).
      • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and industry codes (e.g., ASME, API).
    • Commercial

      Skills:

      • Proven ability to manage a high volume of quotes and customer interactions simultaneously.
      • Strong proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Hub Spot) and ERP systems.
      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, compelling sales pitches.
    • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
