Purpose of PositionThe Adult and Transfer Advisor recruits, counsels, advises, and supports prospective adult learners and transfer students as they explore postsecondary options and transition to NKU. The role blends recruitment with holistic, proactive academic advising to improve access, enrollment, yield, retention, and overall student success. This position provides accurate and concise transfer information to help students navigate admissions, academic pathways, and university resources.
The Adult and Transfer Advisor serves as a liaison to campus partners, community colleges, and adult‑serving organizations; provides guidance on admissions, transfer pathways, and academic planning; and maintains accurate student records and data. This position works closely with the Assistant Director of the Adult & Transfer Center, University Registrar, and key university partners to foster student success and advance NKU’s commitment to serving adult and transfer learners.
PrimaryResponsibilities
Recruitment & Outreach for Adult and Transfer Students
- Recruit adult and transfer students through on‑campus, off‑campus, virtual, and community‑based events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community colleges, adult‑education centers, and organizations serving adult learners.
- Represent NKU at transfer fairs, community college events, and adult‑focused outreach programs.
- Provide individualized pre‑admissions counseling to prospective adult and transfer students
- Update presentations, advising materials, and recruitment content.
Academic Advising for Adult & Transfer Students
- Provide holistic academic advising to prospective and newly admitted non‑degree adult and transfer students.
- Explain admissions requirements, articulation agreements, transfer evaluation processes, and academic pathways.
- Guide students in making informed academic decisions and connecting to campus resources.
Application Processing/Admissions, Data, Systems and Documentation
- Review, process and admit applications for adult and transfer students.
- Ensure accuracy of student data and adherence to admissions policies.
- Maintain accurate student records and advising documentation.
- Use CRM and student‑success systems including EAB Navigate, SAP, Slate, Workday, Perceptive Content, Canvas, TEDS, and Advisor UI.
Retention, Student Intervention, and Assessment (Student Success)
- Serve as a liaison to NKU departments such as Registrar, Financial Assistance, Learning Plus, and academic colleges.
- Work closely with community college advisors, faculty, and staff to streamline transfer processes and support shared students.
- Conduct proactive outreach and retention interventions for at‑risk or transitioning students.
Orientation, Programming and Student Engagement
- Assist with Transfer Orientation, onboarding programs, and adult/transfer learner transition events.
- Support coordination of visit opportunities, transfer initiatives, and student‑success programs across units
Committees and Professional Service
- Serve on campus committees (e.g., Academic Advising Council) and participate in university-wide initiatives that promote student success.
