Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Teacher (K–6)

Elementary Principals

Primary Function

Provide high-quality, hands‑on STEM instruction through the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) K–6 curriculum to elementary students across multiple Fayette County School Corporation buildings. The PLTW Teacher fosters problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and real‑world application of learning while supporting district STEM goals and ensuring consistent implementation of the PLTW program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Delivery & Student Learning
    • Implement PLTW curriculum for students in grades K–6 as assigned.
    • Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate, project‑based STEM instruction aligned with PLTW expectations and district priorities.
    • Create a safe, inclusive, and well‑managed learning environment that supports hands‑on exploration and inquiry.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
    • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Program Implementation & Curriculum Fidelity
    • Implement PLTW curriculum with fidelity to program guidelines and training expectations.
    • Prepare instructional materials, manage PLTW equipment and supplies, and maintain organized learning spaces across assigned buildings.
    • Support consistent PLTW implementation across multiple elementary sites.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers, building administrators, and district staff to support student learning and curriculum integration when appropriate.
    • Communicate regularly with principals and stakeholders regarding scheduling, instructional needs, and program updates.
    • Support district STEM initiatives, family engagement events, and related activities as assigned.
  • Professional Learning & Compliance
    • Complete required Project Lead the Way professional development and training (provided by FCSC).
    • Maintain appropriate licensure and comply with all district, state, and PLTW requirements.
    • Participate in professional learning communities, staff meetings, and district training as required.
  • Multi‑Building Assignment & Travel
    • Serve multiple elementary buildings according to an established schedule.
    • Travel between district buildings during the workday as required to deliver instruction.
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support instructional programming and district goals.
  • Work Conditions and Benefits
    • Certified teaching position under the FCSC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Assigned to multiple elementary buildings with possible regular travel between sites.
    • Requires the ability to transport instructional materials and equipment between locations.

      Regular interaction with students, teachers, administrators, and district staff.
    • Work schedule aligned with the FCSC school calendar; occasional evening events may be required (e.g., STEM nights).

    Performance in this role will be evaluated using the following indicators:

  • Instructional Effectiveness: Demonstrated ability to engage students in hands‑on, standards‑aligned PLTW learning experiences.
  • Program Fidelity: Consistent implementation of PLTW curriculum aligned with training and district expectations.
  • Student Engagement & Growth: Evidence of student participation, collaboration, and skill development in STEM learning.
  • Professional Responsibility: Completion of required training, timely communication, and adherence to district policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Positive working relationships with principals, teachers, and district staff across multiple buildings.
  • Organization & Reliability: Effective management of schedules, materials, and responsibilities across assigned sites.
