Position:
Youth Minister

Supervised by:
Pastor

Position Purpose: To lead and guide youth in 6th through 12th grades, fostering a Christian community through relationship-building that enhances their commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Qualifications:

  • Personal and growing relationship with God, with a teachable spirit.
  • Experience in youth ministry, basic administrative skills, and a biblical personal spiritual life.
  • Gifted and called to youth ministry, passionate about evangelism and outreach.
  • Engaging teacher with biblical and theological knowledge, aligned with Lebanon Baptist Church’s mission:
    Loving God, experiencing Grace, transforming lives.
  • Relational skills to connect with students, parents, and staff.
  • Consent to background checks and drug testing as required by law.

Responsibilities:

  • Support youth and adults in planning programs that promote community, fellowship, fun, and faith development. Meet with youth weekly and organize special events like summer camps and retreats. Include activities such as musical and dramatic presentations, Bible studies, service projects, and church involvement.
  • Be actively involved in youth activities outside church, like sports, concerts, and school events. Coordinate youth activities with church ministries.
  • Build relationships with parents and congregation members to support youth ministry.
  • Collaborate with the Pastor to provide educational and mission opportunities.
  • Attend workshops and conferences to stay current on youth ministry practices.
  • Establish long-term goals and short-term objectives for youth ministry.
  • Prepare and submit an annual youth budget for approval.
  • Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.
  • Keep in contact with students and parents about activities.
  • Perform other duties as negotiated.
  • Expectations:

    • Grow the youth ministry meaningfully.
    • Seek mentorship from the Pastor and remain accountable.
    • Attend staff meetings and workshops.
    • Present semi-annual updates and yearly goals to the Pastor and deacons.
    • Participate in performance reviews, with potential salary adjustments.
    • Develop and propose a yearly youth budget.
    • Stay informed on youth ministry trends through reading and conferences.
    • Work at least 20 hours per week, including Sundays, Wednesdays, office hours, and other youth activities.
