** Assistant Professor of English
** The Department of English at University of the Cumberlands seeks candidates to join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor of English beginning August 2026. The primary responsibilities of the position will focus on teaching undergraduate courses in Composition I and Composition II, along with upper-division English Literature courses based on applicant’s expertise and the department’s course rotation. The University of the Cumberlands is a faith-based institution that welcomes students from all backgrounds.

** Responsibilities:
*** Teaching undergraduate courses in Composition I and Composition II, along with upper-division English Literature courses based on applicant’s expertise and the department’s course rotation
* Working collaboratively and successfully with colleagues and university administration
* Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
* Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts
** Requirements:
*** Ph.D. in English Literature (Master of Arts considered)
* Proven experience in teaching
* Record of professional and scholarly productivity
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities
* Willingness to adopt and support a mindset that focuses on student success
