Overview
We are seeking an adaptable and detail-oriented accounting professional to join our client’s growing organization operating in the retail sector. This position offers the opportunity to contribute across general accounting functions, gain experience with month-end close, and potentially supervise accounts payable processes as the team expands. The role is suitable for someone who enjoys hands-on work, process improvement, and collaborating with a small finance team in a manufacturing/retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day AP activities, ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, approvals, and payments
• Participate in month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance
• Assist with building and documenting SOPs, controls, and process improvements
• Support reconciliations, GL analysis, and financial reporting as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain internal controls and compliance with company policies

Qualifications and Experience

• Required:
  • Demonstrated experience in accounts payable and general ledger activities
  • Proven ability to participate in month-end close and produce accurate reconciliations
  • Comfortable with developing or following SOPs and internal controls
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, initiative, and willingness to learn
• Preferred:
  • Experience supervising AP or contributing to process improvements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (not strictly required)
• Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Proficiency with accounting software and tools; familiarity with typical mid-market platforms is a plus
