PUGET SOUND REGIONAL FIRE AUTHORITY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Facility Maintenance Technician II

Rate of Pay: $2,902.92 - $3,890.23 semi-monthly ($75,476 - $101,146 annually). This position is non-exempt and therefore eligible for overtime.

Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority is an internationally accredited full-service, all risk fire and rescue department that provides services to the citizens of Covington, Kent, Maple Valley, Sea Tac, Tukwila, and Fire Districts 37 & 43. Our workforce is comprised of approximately 475 employees.

Work Location

Throughout the course of your work, you may report to various locations throughout our service area (Kent, Covington, Tukwila, Maple Valley, Sea Tac).

Typical Schedule

Day shift; 10hrs/day, four days/week, or 8hrs/day, five days/week.

GENERAL

PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, and with guidance from the Facilities Maintenance Technician III, perform a variety of advanced level, skilled trades and maintenance work requiring operating a variety of specialized machines and hand, power, and automotive equipment in the daily maintenance work of owned and leased facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical, exhaust extraction equipment, and apparatus bay doors.
  • Completes extensive structural remodels, including reading and following approved architectural plans, creating material lists, installing structural members, and calling for necessary inspections.
  • Assist with maintaining replacement schedule life-cycle equipment and assisting with purchase.
  • Performs advanced level plumbing, carpentry, electrical, low voltage, locksmith, exhaust extraction equipment, appliance, and HVAC inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair work.
  • Performs advanced level drill tower burn prop and smoke generating system preventative maintenance and repair work, including but not limited to completing semi-annual preventative maintenance, replacing spark plugs and thermo rods, complete diagnostics, replace ventilation fan motors, smoke generator fans and complete semi-monthly operation of all burn props.
  • Perform advanced level fire alarm and fire protection sprinkler system preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Completes electronic and written maintenance request reports.
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs assigned equipment, instruments, and small tools for proper operating condition.
  • Assists with preparing maintenance schedules, inventory reports, and maintenance related reports, to include inventory control and building system service records, as needed.
  • Assists with coordinating repairs with vendors and contractors, including assisting with developing scopes of work, as needed.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of preventative maintenance plans and special maintenance projects.
