Machinist II – 3 Axis Milling & 2-Axis Turning – Secure Shop (No Layoffs History) Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Machinist II to join our dynamic team primarily focused on the space industry. As a skilled machinist, you will operate multiple machines independently, utilizing your expertise in M‑code and G‑code toolpaths, blueprints, and tolerancing. You will report to either the Milling Supervisor or designated personnel based on assigned work. This role requires proficiency in 3‑axis milling and 2‑axis turning, setup of cutting tools and work‑holding fixtures, and the ability to inspect critical dimensions.

Responsibilities
  • Operate several machines independently without oversight.
  • Use and edit M‑code and G‑code toolpaths, following setup sheets.
  • Perform 3‑axis milling and 2‑axis turning.
  • Set up cutting tools and work‑holding fixtures.
  • Inspect and deburr critical dimensions.
  • Multi‑task during job preparation and completion tasks.
  • Assist co‑workers with their tasks and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors about any issues.
  • Support the Quality Management System and facility cleaning activities.
  • Monitor equipment and perform daily/weekly preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in LEAN initiatives, including 5S and cost reduction activities.
  • Support the company’s safety policy.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in CNC machining.
  • Expertise in GD&T.
  • Ability to perform full machine setup.
  • Experience in job shop machining at Level 2 & 3.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in supporting Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to multi‑task effectively.
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing and continual improvement.

Pay: $46.00

Work Environment

This full‑time position requires working on the 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 2pm to midnight, totaling 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime may be required. The schedule can be adjusted with management approval. Employees work in a facility that has evolved from a small repair shop to a nationally trusted manufacturer of complex structures, heavy‑duty tooling, and aerospace‑grade machinery systems.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $46.00/hr.
