I have collaborated with an exponentially growing, UK-based manufacturer specialising in the development and production of high-quality nutraceutical products. They are now looking for an avid Developer to join their expanding team, where you will be at the heart of science, innovation, and execution, supporting brands from concept through to scalable manufacture.

The Role

This role reports directly into the Head of NPD.

This company are looking for an experienced Developer to take strategic ownership of flavour across their product portfolio, while remaining hands-on in the lab.

Working closely with their internal R&D team, including chemists and nutritionists, you will define, shape, and elevate the flavour direction of our supplement formulations. You will be responsible for setting flavour standards, guiding formulation decisions, and ensuring flavour intent is consistently delivered from concept through to final product.

Alongside this strategic ownership, the role requires strong practical capability. You will be actively involved in lab-based formulation work, producing bench samples, iterating recipes, and solving complex flavour challenges during development.

Key Responsibilities

Own and define flavour direction and standards across NPD projects and product ranges
Review supplement formulations created by chemists and nutritionists and advise strategic and tactical changes to improve flavour, mouthfeel, and overall sensory experience
Balance active ingredients, sweeteners, acids, flavours, and masking systems to achieve target flavour profiles
Lead flavour decision-making during NPD, from concept through to final sign-off
Develop and refine flavour systems across powders, liquids, capsules, and functional formats
Produce small-scale bench samples to support internal R&D and NPD work
Translate product briefs into repeatable, scalable flavour solutions
Troubleshoot flavour challenges such as bitterness, metallic notes, aftertaste, and ingredient interactions
Collaborate closely with the Head of NPD and wider R&D team to meet development timelines
Maintain accurate records of formulations, iterations, and flavour rationale

About You

Proven experience in Product Development & Flavourings, ideally in a formulation role
Strong understanding of supplement and functional ingredient systems
Hands-on experience with sweeteners, acids, flavour compounds, and masking technologies
Confident working with high-impact actives and challenging flavour profiles
Methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable iterating formulations rapidly
Able to translate subjective flavour feedback into objective formulation changes
Experience producing bench samples or pilot-scale formulations is essential

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience with in nutraceuticals, sports nutrition, or functional foods
Sensory evaluation or flavour profiling experience
Understanding of regulatory or ingredient compliance in supplements
