OverviewExciting opportunities have arisen in the Emergency Department at Tunbridge Wells Hospital for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. We welcome applications from experienced ED nurses who are looking for a new challenge and would like to join our friendly, vibrant team. You will join an established team of nurses with a wealth of experience in emergency care.
Our department offers a 5‑bed resuscitation room, 12 major cubicles, a rapid assessment area, a designated paediatric area, CDU and minor injuries area. We are supported by GP streaming and SDEC. The ED has an educationally focused environment, with strong links to Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church Universities, and a Practice Development Nurse supporting your development. You will work in all areas of the department to further develop clinical and leadership skills.
Responsibilities- Deliver high quality emergency care to patients presenting with a broad spectrum of conditions.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide timely, safe patient care.
- Provide support and mentorship within the department, enhancing the skill set of junior staff.
- Participate in GP streaming and SDEC pathways, and in minor injuries management.
- Engage in continual professional development and share knowledge with peers.
- Lead shift activities as a charge nurse, ensuring effective staffing and workflow.
- Experienced ED nurse with strong clinical judgement in emergency settings.
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision‑making skills.
- Dynamic, motivated, hardworking and compassionate attitude toward patients and colleagues.
- Clear understanding of current issues and best practice in emergency care.
- Willingness and ability to work day and night shifts.
- Subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level.
- Completion of the Trust’s corporate induction and a 2‑week RNs Induction Programme.
- At least 27 days of annual leave plus public/bank holidays (pro‑rata for part‑time staff).
