Financial Controller
- Hours:
Part-time (22.5 hours per week) - Annual Salary: £80,000 pro rata

We are seeking a Financial Controller with direct responsibility for managing all aspects of our client's finance department. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will oversee the accounting operations, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and setting controls and budgets to ensure compliance with recognised accounting principles.
Day-to-day of the role:- Manage the business's financial and legal obligations to ensure compliance.
- Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to support the achievement of the organisation's business objectives.
- Line manage finance staff, ensuring motivation and development, enabling them to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and update cash flow forecasts.
- Develop annual budgets and cash flow forecasts to monitor and safeguard the business.
- Assist in preparing the organisation’s annual accounts for accurate and timely presentation.
- Manage payrolls, pensions, and other employee benefits.
- Liaise with accountants, insurers, bank managers, and other financial professionals as required.
- Oversee the factoring company account and ensure appropriate allocation of payments received.
- Ensure adherence to the organisation's credit control policy and manage customer payment terms.
- Collaborate with managers and staff to set and manage realistic budgets.
- Produce ad-hoc costings and forecasts to aid in efficient and profitable business management.
Qualifications:
- CIMA, ACCA, ACA qualification.
- Proven experience in budget preparation and cash flow forecasting.
- Skilled in preparing and presenting management accounts.
- Experience managing and supervising a finance team.
- Knowledge of invoice discounting schemes.
- Proficiency in Sage Accounts and Sage Payroll.
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise effectively.
- Highly organised, forward planner with meticulous attention to detail.
Skills:
- Knowledge of the social care environment.
- Understanding of public sector finance and operational procedures.
- Familiarity with enterprise schemes and other government initiatives.
- Knowledge of statutory accounts procedures and company taxation.
- Experience at board level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and be self-motivating.
- Capable of working calmly and meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships at all levels.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to set targets, motivate and inspire staff to achieve targets.
- Engage in the training of new or inexperienced staff.
