Materials Engineer, Process Engineer, Research Scientist
We are seeking a Chemist to create, test, and refine new polymers and material formulations to drive product innovation. You will work closely with engineers, chemists, and designers to align materials, processes, and product requirements. Your contributions will be vital in the development and optimization of extrusion, lamination, thermoforming, and coating processes. You'll conduct bench-scale experiments and support pilot-scale trials to transition concepts toward production, while managing lab workflows and maintaining test methods.
Responsibilities- Develop and test new polymer and material formulations.
- Collaborate with engineers, chemists, and designers to ensure material and process alignment.
- Optimize extrusion, lamination, thermoforming, and coating processes.
- Conduct bench-scale experiments and support pilot-scale trials.
- Perform sample analysis and deliver insightful reports to guide next steps.
- Manage lab workflows and oversee chemical inventory.
- Organize daily lab priorities and testing schedules.
- Assess laboratory equipment needs and support capital improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed on emerging trends in polymer and materials science.
- Provide occasional support for off-shift research activities or production trials.
- 5+ years of experience in polymer science or chemical R&D.
- Hands‑on lab experience with formulation, testing, and polymer synthesis.
- Experience in scaling materials from lab to pilot plant.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, flame/smoke/toxicity (FST), or regulated materials is a plus.
The position is based on a Monday to Friday schedule, with a flexible start time around 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM, as long as the required hours are fulfilled. The role involves 75% oversight and administrative tasks and 25% hands‑on lab work.
