Quality Inspector - Manufacturing

Pay Rate: $19/hr.

- $21/hr.

Job Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections to ensure manufactured products meet quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role supports the Quality Department by identifying nonconforming material, maintaining accurate inspection records, and working cross-functionally to contain and resolve quality issues in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured products
  • Read and interpret part prints, build specifications, and air/electric schematics
  • Use a variety of inspection and measurement tools, including ultrasonic thickness testers, digital calipers, torque wrenches, levels, measuring tapes, and digital cameras
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify defects such as cracks, corrosion, pits, poor finish, incomplete welds, weld splatter, and sharp edges
  • Inspect materials and products from multiple manufacturing processes, including castings, stampings, laser-cut blanks, press brake operations, welding, sub-assemblies, electrical components, hydraulics, cables, and plated parts
  • Compare products against approved samples, quality standards, and specifications to ensure conformance and assembly suitability
  • Accurately document inspection results in written and electronic formats
  • Identify and control nonconforming material, notify appropriate personnel, and route material per established procedures
  • Effectively communicate quality findings and collaborate with other departments to contain and resolve issues
  • Perform all work in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Complete required online training related to hazmat regulations applicable to inspection and testing of cargo tanks transporting hazardous materials
Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to properly use and read inspection and measuring tools
  • Solid understanding of weld quality and visual weld inspection
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and reporting
  • Self-motivated and dependable
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a quality inspection or manufacturing inspection role
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • General understanding of air and electrical systems preferred
Physical Demands
  • Ability to visually inspect large equipment or trailers for defects and nonconformities
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
  • Primarily a manufacturing and shop-floor environment
  • Exposure to noise, dust, operating machinery, and high traffic areas
  • Some work may be performed outdoors
