Our Charge Nurse position has the unique opportunity to contribute to a harmonious work environment by providing patient care while supporting our physician practice at GI Associates. Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Responsible for maintaining the flow of the current daily schedule
- Responsible for keeping rooms turn around to accommodate the daily schedule
- Readjust staff hours/work assignments to accommodate the current daily schedule when a coworker has called in
- Redirect staff assignments to accommodate changes in the daily schedule
- Help with the assessment and monitoring of the patient pre-, intra- and post-procedure
- Respond to any emergency situation as per protocols
- Help troubleshoot any problems with equipment
- Assist with issues that might arise from patients, staff, physicians and other customers in the ASC area
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of care delivered in the ASC
- Knowledgeable of all job duties performed in the ASC
- Promote an environment that is patient- and employee-friendly
- Communicate changes in the schedule to the appropriate employee
- Maintain high level of confidentiality pertaining to employees and patients to promote privacy
- Communicate to the Manager of the Endoscopy Center or the Director of Clinical Services any patient or employee issues
- Maintain own professional growth through continuing education
- Maintain acceptable attendance levels, dress code requirements, and operate within the employee handbook guidelines
- Follow Endoscopy Center policies and procedures
- Promote teamwork and cooperation among all employees
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, coworkers and outside customers
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Flexible to meet the needs of the department
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN licensure for the State of Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (ability to obtain upon hire)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required (ability to obtain upon hire)
- Two (2) years medical-surgical experience for RN preferred
- Previous gastroenterology experience preferred
- One (1) year leadership experience
- Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the department operations, including principles of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff
- Patient-care first approach with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations with compassion and professionalism
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, co-workers, and outside customers
- Willingness and ability to travel to other GI Associates locations as needed to support operational needs
- Knowledge of Emergency Plans and OSHA Standards
- Knowledge of medical safety practices and requirements to evaluate existing standards and implement new procedures
- Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and stoop throughout entire shift to accomplish tasks
- Able to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Able to work through interruptions, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Able to work under minimal supervision; responds to changing priorities and role needs
- Frequently uses a computer for typing and EMR documentation; requires accurate and efficient data entry abilities
- Frequently uses the telephone to contact patients for appointment scheduling, follow-up care, test results, and other clinical communications
